The programs in the Ecosoft package have been designed to form an integral part of any field studies course for ecology or environmental science. Biology and geography courses could also use some of the programs in the package.

The programs transform data that has been collected in the field to enable statistics or diagrams to be done that will help students interpret their data. They cut down time spent on processing so that more emphasis can be placed on collecting data and analysing the results.
