Teddytronic is a toy firm which produces electronically controlled teddy bears. You have taken over the management of the firm in the month of September. This is a time when increasing orders for teddy bears are expected in the run up to Christmas. At the time you take over, the firm has 247 bears in stock and is producing 1000 teddy bears a month. It has 10 machines and a workforce of 25, including 5 sales staff. All employees are paid a wage of £100, and each salesperson receives a company car. The firm operates from rented accommodation and, at the time you take over, has outstanding bank loans of £30,000. Your objective is to run the firm successfully, and to cope as well as you can with the problems that arise. It will help if you remember that, in common with most toys, orders depend upon the time of year, but also on the price you set and the amount of advertising you do. There is little point, however, in increasing the demand for bears unless you plan to produce enough to meet the demand. Best of luck!
