QUICKCALC is a 'spreadsheet' calculation program which enables you to use the calculating power of your computer without any need to program. Spreadsheet programs have been among the most successful items of microcomputer software because they combine the mathematical power of the computer with the simplicity and flexibility of the old fashioned pencil, paper and rubber approach. Instead of a sheet of paper QUICKCALC gives you a table of elements or 'cells' arranged in rows and columns. To start with the table is blank, but you can enter a number, a few words of text or a formula in any cell of the table. Formulae can refer to numbers in your table or other formulae, so that complex calculations are possible. Each time you make a change to your table, formulae are re-calculated automatically. The ease of making changes in one of the key features of QUICKCALC, it means that you don't meed to spend hours planning your calculations before you start, you can just work on the screen and make changes as you go along. Working on the screen is easy: QUICKCALC's visual display means that you can always see where you're up to. The screen isn't big enough to show all the rows and columns at once, so the screen acts as a 'window' onto a part of the table. The screen window can be easily moved around to show the part of the table which you are currently working on. When you've finished developing your calculation 'model' you can save it on tape or disc for later use, or if you have a printer you can print all or part of the results.
