This 8K ROM has be designed to provide a number of commands specifically to control the Sideways ROM feature of the BBC Model B microcomputer. These include the facility to prevent command clashes between ROMs, disable and enable ROMs, pass commands directly to the filing system, edit memory and view the contents of any ROM. In addition, pressing BREAK with 'R' will cause the computer to "boot up" using the ROM filing system (RFS). This is in line with a similar feature offered by the other filing systems available. It has been specifically designed to work with both the normal BBC model B and one fitted with a Sideways ROM extension board. Another feature of the ROM Manager is the facility to develop and test ROM based software using only the normal BBC computer's RAM obviating the expense of sideways RAM. Furthermore, programs so developed can be a long as the available memory. Facilities are also available to provide help on the most frequently used FX commands and for viewing and editing the contents of the user defined keys.
