One day long, long ago in the Kingdom of Helior, people looked to the distant skies. A mighty thunderstorm was approaching. The colours in the sky were fantastic: greys and green, purple streaks, fire-glow orange and whirls of multicoloured light. This was no ordinary thundercloud.

As the storm passed overhead, the effects were amazing and very, very strange. Rain fell in many colours, but it was not we like ordinary rain. Strangest of all was its effect on the people of Helior. The rain washed away their memories. They forgot where they lived, forgot friends and family, their own names.

The people of Helior forgot everything. In panic and confusion, every person fled the island. Small groups of Helians were scattered among the hundreds of islands making up the world. The treasures of Helior were left behind and forgotten.

This all happened long ago. Now, years afterwards, stories about magical treasures are everywhere. One group of wise Elders wondered if such stories could be true. Was there really a magic island with treasures? They decided to send an expedition to find out.

You are the Chosen Ones. You are going to search for the Treasures. Your search begins. On every island you visit,= you meet folk who, in their own language, tell stories and legends like your own. One name is mentioned again and again "Rimir the Wizard". After a long and hazardous journey, you do find Rimir. He looks centuries old, but speaks in a clear, bright voice. Rimir warmly welcomes you. He has much to explain.

It seems that the stories are true. When the great cloud passe over the Kingdom of Helior, Rimir himself was greatly weakened. Only powerful magic saved his memory when all others were washed away. Rimir tells you of three treasures: the Bell of Songs, the Magic Looking Glass and the Cloak of Healing.

Rimir promises to take you to Helior, so that you can find the treasures. He also warns you about the Brodling, who has made the island his home. The Brodling is a crafty goblin left by the Evil Cloud to guard the treasures. Can you outwit the Brodling and recover the treasures? The Brodling has hidden the treasures in three secret places. These may be on land or in the surrounding sea, so you will have to search everywhere for them. Clues telling where each treasure is hidden are scattered about the island. The treasures are protected by magic Pass-codes which you need to know to free them.

Beware! Helior is now a magic place. In order to survive you need zings of magic to protect you and succeed in your quest. Anybody without magic will be turned into a frog. To help, Rimir gives you a map of the island, a booklet of tasks that can be used to gain more magic and 30 zings of magic.

Rimir takes you to the magic Gateway to Helior. He gives you some things to help you and leaves. He may come back to see you from time to time, so look out for him.
