Solution at your fingertips working with figures is faster and easier with Swift. SWIFT is an "electronic spreadsheet" or "financial planning" package, offering the sophisticated facilities of the more expensive spreadsheet, at a very reasonable price. As the electronic pocket calculator was developed to perform complex functions very quickly for the scientists and engineers, so spreadsheets were developed to perform business calculations, whose functions rarely need complex maths, but involve many more variables to produce the end result. Thus the electronic spreadsheet uses the technology of desktop micro computers, to produce a calculation aid designed specifically for business use. A spreadsheet program acts like a blank sheet of paper onto which text and numbers can be added, and from which calculations can be made or entries altered. If several calculations make use of one entry then altering that entry will cause automatic recalculation of all the results. Spreadsheets can be used for any sort of calculation, which uses rows and columns. The most common examples being Monthly budgets, Yearly forecasts, Analysis of expenditure, Profit and loss, Balance sheets, Costing, Job quotations, Market research and business modelling. The main benefit, apart from time saved, guaranteed accuracy and neat presentation on a printer, is that a spreadsheet program encourages you to try out the effect of changing the variable quantities or estimates - to discover the effect on the "bottom line". A special form of this is called financial modelling which involves goal-seeking or reverse iteration.
