Utility Software Conversion Kit doesn't perform any useful function in itself, but is a collection of 6502 assembly language routines for programmers to use in their software. A difficulty often faced by programmers to use in their software. A difficulty often faced by programmers, especially novices, and those not primarily trained on this processor or this machine, is that a lot of time is spent working out fairly basic routines, instead of getting on with the overall design. The BBC Micro Operating System (MOS) is better than many in this respect as it take virtually all the pain out of graphics, file handling and other mundane tasks. Yet there are many operations required in virtually every assembly language program which are not supported by the MOS. It is the aim of the Conversion Kit to supply some of these. The Conversion Kit routines are supplied in two distinct formats, as assembler source code that you can incorporate into your own programs and as a Sideways RAM image with each of the conversion routines being accessed with as OSWIRD call. The use of both formats is described in this manual.
