Take on the role of Robocop and mete out rough justice to the perpetrators of evil and lawlessness in this side scrollin shoot-'em-up. Also includes smaller minigames between levels such as first-person shooting to save a hostage and reconstructing a police sketch of a suspect's face. You control Robocop, a slain Police Officer formally known as Alex Murphy, who was a keen rookie officer with a strong sense of duty, he is killed while pursuing a sadistic group of criminals into their hideout. His remains were built into a heavy, near indestructible suit. He has no memory of his previous life, a happy family man with a wife and son, or his death. Although controlled by directives, he can think independently, making him a deadly opponent to the criminal gangs plaguing the city of old Detroit. He starts to recall his life, and works out that Dick Jones, the head of OCP, who created the Robocop programme, and the organisation trying to rebuild old Detroit, as the new metropolis of Delta City, is connected to the criminal gangs that control the drug trade in the city. At OCP, he had put forward his own robot ED-209, a faulty, lumbering walking cannon carrying unit, and had another employee killed for coming up with the far superior Robocop programme. The game, as in the film follows Robocop through this story, to the final showdown.
