The PDC Model 400 Magnetic Disk Cartridge Inspector/Cleaner is a precision instrument designed to detect disk cartridge damage, as well as clean the disk surfaces.

Both top-load (type 2315) and front-load (type 5440) cartridges can be inspected for damage caused by operator/equipment mishandling or surface contamination. Also, the disk cartridge can be cleaned, removing undesirable contaminants from the oxide disk surfaces.

The precisely engineered inspection instruments incorporated into the MODEL 400, namely:
• Dial Indicator Assembly
• Ball Height Gauge
• Radial Runout Indicator
• Mirror/Light Assembly

These have been specifically designed with the technician or operator in mind. For instance, the mirror/light assembly arm automatically positions itself and turns on the high intensity lights when a visual inspection of the disk surfaces is to be performed.

The cleaning technique used in the MODEL 400 is identical to that used in the Perfect Data Model 300 Disk Cartridge Cleaner, the proven leader in the industry for cleaning disk cartridge surfaces. In fact, the cleaning solution (CS-50) and cleaning pads (CP-2) utilized in both pieces of equipment are interchangeable.

The Inspector/Cleaner is rugged in construction, yet light in weight and highly portable for ease of use in the field. The unit has been packaged into an aluminium carrying case, permitting storage under a standard airline seat. It is an ideal field engineering tool that allows the engineer to verify the critical mechanical tolerances of both the front and top loading cartridges as well as clean the disk surfaces. With proper instruction the instrument is equally ideal for routine use in a computer room for preventative maintenance.
